Not All Body Shops in Ft. Collins Are Equal
When searching for the right body shop to bring your vehicle to for repairs, it’s important to know that not all body shops in Ft. Collins are the same. It’s not our purpose or practice to disparage any other businesses – but we are all about offering you solid advice that might very well help you decide with whom you do business.
Questions You Should Ask Your Body Shop
The first criteria that we encourage you to ask about is whether or not the body shop in question has a partnership (known as a DRP) with any insurance companies. If the answer is yes, BUYER BEWARE!
Simply put: DRP body shops will always put the insurance company’s interests (which are always surrounding their own profit margins) before your best interests. Every time.
This means that they will make decisions about what repairs are necessary, and what quality of parts to use based solely on the insurance company’s estimate. And that very rarely lines up with what the original manufacturer of your vehicle would advise to be a proper, safe repair.
The great majority of body shops in Ft. Collins have at least one, if not several DRP partnerships with various insurers. It’s important for you to know where their loyalties really lie.
Secondarily, you may want to consider asking about the shop’s average cycle time. Cycle time is an industry term that simply refers to how long it takes (on average) for a car to go through repairs.
While it may seem that a lower number of days should be what you’re looking for, it’s rarely the case that the fastest repair equates to the correct repair. We recommend that you discuss the factors that are most important to a shop – and listen for terms like OEM, quality and your safety. If those words take a back seat to words like “inexpensive” or “fast turnaround”… BUYER BEWARE!
Here at Ground Zero Collision, we believe that the correct repair is the only repair that we’ll offer our customers. Not only is your safety, and that of those in your car and/or driving near your car our utmost priority – but the value of your car is as well. Let’s face it – the minute your car is involved in an accident, its value diminishes. But that loss is only compounded when improper or ill-fitting parts are used just to save the insurance company a few dollars.
